Comberbach Community Safeguarding Project

Case Study

Comberbach Community Safeguarding Project

Summary

The Weaver MAT is comprised of 5 schools across the North West of England and thus faces considerable condition issues across its estate.

Warneford Consulting undertook a range of surveys before producing an estate strategy that identified projects that would meet the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) criteria and then in collaboration with the trust, a priority list for submission was agreed upon.

Comberbach Primary School had been subject to regular trespass and seasonal vandalism.

Furthermore, its boundaries were not fully secure nor its vehicular and pedestrian entry system compliant with best practice safeguarding standards.

Warneford Consulting submitted four CIF projects on behalf of the school and was successfully awarded funds for three.

Work Undertaken

The works needed careful programming and phasing to keep as much of the school grounds as secure as possible.

Works were undertaken during the summer holiday and also during term time and were scheduled to minimise the impact on the school’s day-to-day operations.

Results

Comberbach Primary School is now safe from intruders and from the risk of children leaving school without permission.

The boundaries are secure, a modern entry system has been installed and this is further supported by CCTV.

The trust are delighted with the number of successfully awarded projects that Tim has secured from the Condition Improvement Fund. These projects have a large impact on the quality of life of our pupils, staff, and the wider community. We recommend Tim and his team to all other trusts looking for any estate or bid management support.Annette Williams, CEO
