Old School Problems: Investigating the Challenges of the School Rebuilding Programme

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Old School Problems – a one-off BBC Sounds documentary –  features education journalist Hazel Shearing delving into the slow progress of the School Rebuilding Programme. She explores issues such as delays from first-tier contractors, the collapse of school building firm Caledonian Modular, and the financial challenges facing academy schools’ capital funding.

Tim Warneford was invited to comment on these concerns and is once again calling for significant investment from the new administration to address the alarming state of the UK’s 22,000-school estate. He stresses the need for a unified strategy to meet critical milestones for decarbonisation and net-zero targets.

Tim will also be chairing the ‘Fabric First’ Roundtable discussion at the Education Estates Conference in Manchester, taking place at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, 15th October.
