The Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School Roof Project
The Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School was originally built in the 1960s and as such much of its original fabric and key components were reaching the end of their life.
In particular need of replacement was a significant part of the school’s roof. Despite being listed as part of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme, the school did not receive the estate-wide investment it required.
Work Undertaken
Working on behalf of The Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Warneford Consulting planned a two-phase programme that prioritised the most urgent upgrades.
The school estate, its fabric, and infrastructure have now been renewed, saving the school significant capital investment from its reserves.
Results
The improvements have made the fabric and heating system of the school considerably more energy efficient, saving on future energy costs and reducing carbon emissions.
Successive roof and heating and hot water distribution Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) successes have helped the school provide a more appropriate fit-for-purpose teaching and learning environment to support its students achieve their full potential.
