With degrees in both social sciences and building surveying, I understand the link between learning outcomes, health and wellbeing of students and the quality of the teaching environment. As a governor at a local STEM college, I’ve direct insight into the multiple challenges that trusts face.
I’ve worked in both social housing and renewable energy sectors during my earlier career, both of which relied on state funded investment with plans driven from detailed analysis of stock condition. Now, working within the education sector, I’m keen to help school leaders capture and analyse their school condition data to secure funding, ensure safe and compliant educational facilities and optimise their assets for the benefit of current and future pupils. I form collaborative relationships with my clients working with them to best understand how their estate can be managed to support their education development plan.
More about Tim
I’m currently hosting a series of podcasts: ‘Developing the trust; Joining the dots’. These explore how professional services across the academy sector can better collaborate to provide trusts with an enhanced service, improving their awareness of both challenges and opportunities that exist as an independent business.
I’m a SEND Governor at Wootton Academy Trust and, as such, I’m afforded an inside appreciation of the need to ensure that resources are maximised and income generation optimised to bridge funding gaps for little extras like additional teachers assistants and improved IT provision.
I’m also a regular presenter at Schools and Academies Show, Education Estates Conference, ISBL National Conference (With Lloyds Bank’s Phil Herriott) MAT Expo on a range of funding subjects and, in particular, on ‘Why CIF bids fail’.
‘Tim’s expertise in liaising with the trust and co-ordinating the essential professional service providers was of enormous value. The trust needed expert advice on due diligence for both expansion and for disposal of land”
June Kershaw, Executive Head
“Tim was worked tirelessly for the trust and secured us vital funding for which we are very grateful. His passion and commitment are self-evident and he can always be relied upon to be open and honest”
Roz Hodges, Head of School
“The Trust were delighted to have been awarded the vital funding. Tim was very supportive from the beginning, always making himself available for face to face meetings. He has always responded quickly, drawing together all working parties to ensure that project completion was both on time and to the agreed standard. The trust will be using his services for future projects and would highly recommend Tim to anyone considering a bid.”
Joe Framer, Principal
“I was put in touch with Tim late last year with a few weeks to go for the CIF deadline. I found Tim to be very responsive, and worked in partnership with myself to put in a successful CIF bid at short notice. I found Tim to be very knowledgeable and responsive about the process, advising me very well on this process but also on wider estates issues that have arisen.”
Doug Thorpe, Finance & Operations Director
